2022 Plan Review Process

In August 2022, President Thompson announced a review of Wentworth’s strategic focus areas to ensure all members of our community can put their imprint on Wentworth’s future.

Four new working groups have been established, one per strategic focus area: Inclusive Excellence, High Value Learning, a Transformative Student Experience, and Next Generation Partnerships. Each working group is comprised of a combination of members from the original groups (see background below) and new members.

The charge to the working groups includes the following:

  • Identify where progress has been made 
  • Identify where there has been a lack of progress and assess why
  • Identify possible additional initiatives that should be considered 
  • Assist in establishing key performance indicators and activity metrics that will help us to monitor progress against quantifiable goals

The working groups will engage various constituents in their work. We will also host community forums and plan other opportunities to help ensure everyone in the community has the chance to participate.

The bulk of the work will occur over the six-week period that begins the week of September 5 and concludes on Friday, October 14. President Thompson plans to engage the Trustees at their October 27-28 retreat.

Background on the Plan

Starting in June 2019, our university community undertook an inclusive approach to develop a bold and ambitious strategic plan. The completed plan was unanimously endorsed by the Board of Trustees in February 2020.  

The plan established four strategic focus areas – Inclusive Excellence, High Value Learning, a Transformative Student Experience, and Next Generation Partnerships. Within each of these focus areas, we established goals and related actions to pursue. 
 
Much of the work in developing the plan was coordinated by four working groups, one dedicated to each focus area, with broad representation from our campus community. The working groups engaged various stakeholders in their work to help ensure that everyone had ample opportunity to share their ideas and ambitions. The inclusivity and transparency of the process garnered enthusiasm and broad support for the plan and its various components.
