Wentworth’s semester-based tuition proration schedule for the current academic year is located below. After the add/drop period for each semester or term ends, students who withdraw from Wentworth during the semester must complete the Voluntary Withdrawal Form located on My Wentworth. The completed form should be emailed to the Registrar’s Office at registrar@wit.edu. Residential students must also submit a housing cancellation form.

IMPORTANT: Non-attendance does not constitute withdrawal. Students who register for classes but do not attend are fully responsible for any balance incurred. Tuition will not be adjusted on the student’s account until the Registrar’s Office receives an official Voluntary Withdrawal Form from the student.

Involuntary Leave, Suspension or Dismissal

The proration policy does not apply to students asked to leave Wentworth involuntarily during an academic semester or term.   Students on interim suspensions, involuntary leave or dismissal are eligible for a prorated dining charge only, based on the last date of enrollment.

Questions about tuition prorations can be directed to the Student Accounts Office at 617-989-5043 or to studentaccounts@wit.edu

Housing & Residential Education: Room and Meal Plan Proration

A residential student who withdraws from the university before or during the first four weeks of the semester will be eligible for a reduction of charges (less housing down-payment) in accordance with Wentworth policy (terms are in the housing agreement). Students who are assigned to housing are fully responsible for any balance incurred until a housing cancellation form is submitted and approved whether they have moved into campus housing or not. No adjustments will be made after the fourth week of the semester. Housing & Residential Education sets the final prorated amounts for room and meal plans. Daily room rates are calculated based on the semester room rate, divided by the number of days within a semester.

*Note: All residential students are required to sign a housing agreement, which outlines additional terms, and is a legal and binding agreement with financial obligations. Students cancelling their housing agreement may incur a housing agreement release fee and/or may forfeit their housing down-payment, as outlined in the housing agreement.

Students may also request a change in their meal plan before or during the first four weeks of the semester through the meal plan change request form. No changes to meal plans will be made after the first four weeks of the semester.

The Tuition Proration policy is based on the terms in the Wentworth Academic Catalog

Financial Aid and Return of Funds

Students should be aware that withdrawing from a semester may cause them to owe more money than remaining enrolled in a semester. Students who withdraw from a course or withdraw from the university during the term may not be eligible for the entire financial aid award offered to them. Students should consult the Financial Aid Office to discuss the impact withdrawing from classes may have on their eligibility for aid in the current and future semesters, and to loan repayments, if applicable.

Students who withdraw from the university or cease attendance and are unofficially withdrawn before completing 60% of the enrollment period may be required to repay all or a portion of the financial aid funds back to the institution, to the Department of Education, state governments, agencies, loan providers, and other non-university grantors of scholarships and awards.

Up through the 60% point for each semester, a prorated schedule is used to determine the amount of federal financial aid funds a student has earned at the time of withdrawal, and which funds need to be returned. After the 60% point of each semester, a student has earned 100% of the federal financial aid funds they are eligible to receive during the semester.

Please review the Financial Aid Withdrawal and the Satisfactory Academic Progress page for more information.

Currently Serving Military Members

Students who are members of the United States Armed Forces who are called to active duty should review the Withdrawal for Military Connected Services policy.   A refund of tuition, fees, and applicable payments will be made according to Public Law 117-328 Veterans Affairs Update.   Any required returns to agencies such as the Department of Veterans Affairs will be made according to federal regulations.  Financial aid awards are subject to the same laws and regulations for all students, regardless of active military service, section 6.f.

Course Materials Fee - Math & Physics

Course material fees are fully refundable ONLY during add/drop, which is the 100% tuition proration period for each semester. After add/drop has ended for each semester and the 100% tuition proration period has passed, course material fee(s) are non-refundable.

Study Abroad Program Fees

All deposits for Wentworth Study Abroad programs are non-refundable. Students should contact their School's Study Abroad program coordinator for further details.
