Kelly Hutzell
Kelly Hutzell is the Director of Graduate Programs in Architecture at Wentworth Institute of Technology. Prior to joining Wentworth, she taught as an Associate Professor at Carnegie Mellon University in both Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and Doha, Qatar for ten years.
Kelly’s research focuses on the intersection of urban design, graphic design, and interaction design. Her research documenting the urban growth and transformation of Pittsburgh has been published in the book Imagining the Modern: Architecture and Urbanism of the Pittsburgh Renaissance. Her research on Doha has been published in the book Al Manakh: Gulf Continued, and in AD Magazine: UAE and The Gulf: Architecture and Urbanism Now, among other publications. In collaboration with Carnegie Mellon and OverUnder, she created the app Jaunt: Pittsburgh, winner of an AIA Pittsburgh and AIA Pennsylvania award, with plans for more cities to follow.
In addition to teaching and conducting research, Kelly is a licensed architect in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and works as a consultant with the multi-disciplinary Boston-based practice OverUnder. Kelly received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Roger Williams University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design degree from Columbia University.
