Achievements
Seunghae Lee has a Ph.D. in facilities design and management from Michigan State University, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees in housing and interior design from Yonsei University, Korea.
Lee has held interior design faculty positions at College of Business, Oregon State University; Purdue University; California State University, Northridge; and Michigan State University.
My Work
Dr. Lee's research and publications cover a range of issues including support for older adults’ daily activities in the kitchen and bathroom; layout and residence space planning for continuing care retirement communities; and the need for senior-friendly products to support daily life among elderly in their homes and communities.
She has published 18 articles in peer-reviewed major journals in architectural design and engineering such as Journal of Interior Design, Applied Ergonomics, Building & Environment, Indoor & Built Environment, International Journal of Architectural Research, and International Journal of Design.
She also presented her research at conferences (10 presentations in recent five years) and published her long and short abstracts in proceedings of those conferences including Environmental Design Research Association, Interior Design Educators Council, and ACM SIGGRAPH.
Dr. Lee is an international scholar and has invited presentations at universities and institutions in the U.S. and South Korea based on her research. She has cross-cultural studies that she worked with scholars from different countries such as South Korea, China, and Turkey.
She serves as reviewer for various journals including Journal of Interior Design, Indoor and Built Environment, and Architectural Research.
She has been a site visitor and chair for Council for Interior Design Accreditation since 2007. She is an active member and volunteer for Interior Design Educators Council and has served in various areas such as weekly ENewsletter reviewer, conference proceedings coordinator, membership committee chair, and conference communication committee chair for the last 15 years.
She has earned numerous intra and extramural grants and currently is a PI for a Nuckolls Fund.
